As well as a new "Amazing" book, AMAZING ALABAMA, here are some other things I am either involved in or working on and the reading level for each:

(1)  AMERICANA. (adult)  This is a novel based around some characters who are refugees of the Civil War. Romance novel? Maybe (slightly). Historical adventure? I would say, yes, it's more along those lines. This novel is something I work on when I'm catching my breath from other projects, including:

(2)  UNDER THE MAGNOLIA TREE (adult) This is a novel about a family as they grow and change during the turbulent 60s in Alabama. It's about half-done so far. There are some colorful characters in there and I swear none of them come from real people's personalities....

(3)  CHILDREN'S STORIES. I have written quite a few of these:

(a)  ISABELLA'S HATS.(pre-school through grade 1) Isabella is a ballerina and is preparing for her big recital when she undergoes chemotherapy. What is a six-year-old dancer to do when her hair falls out?

(b)  LITTLE BADGER, MEDICINE BEAR (pre-teen to young teen). It is in the summer of 1790 at the summer encampment of the Kiowa Indians. They finally have made a peace with the Comanche people and they spend the summer, camping and hunting together to celebrate this peace after decades of warring between them. Little Badger has a disability, though she is of marrying age. Will this keep her from finding her true love and her place among the people? Read about her amazing transformation here (and for the guys, there are some hunting scenes thrown in). The Kiowa tribal historian, Evalu Ware Russell ("Honking Goose") reviewed this and said, "It was as though I was there. And I couldn't put it down until I had read it through." I thoroughly researched both the time period and even the flora and fauna found in the area where this really occurred.

(e)  BESWITCHED. (Young Adult) He's a basketball player. She's a ballerina. They became step-brother and -sister since their parents married (and despise each other).   Then, something strange happens...a humorous and insightful look at what can happen when people really take each other's places....

(f)  EMILY THE APPLE TREE (young children). The subtle fable about the value in givng to others and of finding your way in life is told through the eyes of what begins as a fruit.

(g)  SARAH AND THE HEN. (young children). Sarah faces her fears and goes into the dark hen house on a search for eggs...and finds something more.

(h)  PUPPY FINDS A HOME (young children). Puppy sees his brothers and sisters all going to homes but no one comes to get him from the farm and take him to a new home!   Chasing one of the cars as it leaves, Puppy is injured under its wheels. What happens next?

OTHER STUFF: I write for all sorts of publications, on topics ranging from animal care to social issues to how a guitar is made. One of my drier writing jobs was writing an advertisement flyer for the Paducah-McCracken Riverport Authority. If I can make them sound interesting, I can make even the driest topic become enthralling! Some of my markets include: INTERNATIONAL WOOD PURCHASING NEWS, VANDERBILT MAGAZINE, MUSIC ROW MAGAZINE and others. I am a regular correspondent for a Catholic Journal, The Tennessee Register (based in Nashville, Tennessee); many of my articles for them have gone on the international wire and have been published all over the world.
